Youth League Information

Our youth leagues are one of the easiest, most affordable ways to get your kids involved in a new sport.  All of our youth leagues are a part of the Youth Bowling Canada (YBC), which creates the opportunity for bowlers of all skill levels to participate in tournaments and awards programs.  This also means that we follow national standards for how the program is run, in addition to the extras we offer not required by the program.  Much of the details for our 5-pin programs are the same as those for the 10-pin program.

Some of the features of the program are:

• Free practice sessions (usually 3 times per week, on a come and go basis, Certified Instructors).

• Low weekly cost and no equipment to purchase.

• Optional tournaments (tournaments that occur during league play are at no additional charge).

• Various age groups.  From 5 years old to 19 years old.

• Your child can select their team (request to be with friends).

• Bowler of the Week and Bowler of the Month prizes.

• No hidden fees (the $8.25 weekly cost and the $25.00 registration fee are the only fees, unless you participate in optional tournaments).

The age groups:

• Bowlasaurus: Ages 5 to 6 years as of December 31st, 2009 (born in 2004, 2005)

• Bantams: Ages 7 to 10 years as of December 31st, 2009 (born in 1999, 2000, 2001)

• Juniors: Ages 11 to 13 years as of December 31st, 2009 (born in 1996, 1997, 1998)

• Seniors: Ages 14 to 18 years as of December 31st, 2009 (born in 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995)

Each year, a variety of tournaments are held:

• High-Low Doubles Tournament (in house, during league play)

• Bring A Buddy Tournament

• I Beat My Coach Tournament (in house, during league play)

• Family Twosome Tournament

• I Beat My Average Tournament (in house, during league play)

• Combo Tournament

• 4 Steps to Stardom (House Round, Zone Round, Provincial Round, National Championships)

For the parents:

• The weekly cost for 2009-2010 is $8.25 per week ($5.75 for Bowlasaurus)

• Discounts are offered each year to parents who prepay for 1/2 year or the full year.

• The registration fee for 2009-2010 is $25.00.

• The children play 3 games each week (Bowlasaurus play 2 games).

• Your child plays at the same time each week.  Average time to bowl their games is 1 1/2 hours.

• If your child is unable to attend on a certain week, you may pre-bowl (that just means you come in, bowl the games ahead of time, and we'll take care of the rest).

• No smoking or alcohol is permitted near the children during YBC events and league play.

What the parents need to do:

• Sign up your kids.  Simply select a day and time and bring your child each week.

• Registration fee is due when you sign up your child.

• You may pay weekly at the counter, pre-pay for 1/2 a year, or whatever works for you.  As long as you are current, we are happy to accommodate your payment methods.  VISA, Mastercard, Debit and Cash are accepted.

• Ask questions.  Our program is as much for the parents as it is for the kids.

• Get involved.  Track your child's progress.  Volunteer to help out.

Times Available:

• Bowlasaurus: Saturday at 9:30 am

• Bantam:  Tuesday at 4pm or Saturday at 9:30 am

• Juniors:  Tuesday at 4 pm or Saturday at 9:30 am or Saturday at 11:45 am

• Senior: Tuesday at 4 pm or Saturday at 11:45 am
